Rita's Chili

Ingredient - Preparation Method

1 cup onion -- chopped
3/4 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup green pepper -- chopped
2 cloves garlic -- minced
1 16 oz. can tomatoes -- cut up
1 16 oz. can dark red kidney beans -- drained
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
2 tsp. chili powder {Rita uses 3}
1/2 tsp. dried basil -- crushed
1/4 tsp. salt & pepper


In a large saucepan, cook ground beef, onion, green pepper and garlic till meat is brown. Drain fat. Stir in tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, basil and salt & pepper. Bring to boiling, reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
