Mom's Peanut Butter Fudge

Ingredient - Preparation Method

3 cups sugar
1 cup milk
1 cup peanut butter
1 dash salt
3 T. butter
1 12 oz. pkg semisweet chocolate chips -- optional
1 cup walnuts


Combine first four ingredients in large saucepan. Heat, stirring constantly until thick. When thick, remove pan from heat. Add butter; stir until butter is melted. Add chocolate chips and walnuts. Beat until very thick; then pour candy mixture into a abuttered 13x9 inch pan. Can be cooled in freezer about 15 minutes. Cut into squares.
