Gum Drop Bread

Ingredient - Preparation Method

1 C white sugar
1 C brown sugar
1 1/2 C shortening
4   eggs
2 C applesauce
1 tsp. cinnamon and salt
1/4 tsp. cloves, nutmeg and allspice
2 tsp. soda -- dissolved in 1 T. hot water
1 1/2 C walnuts -- chopped
4 1/2 C flour
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. minature gumdrops (NOT spice drops)-- cut
    cream sugars and shortening


Add eggs and beat. Add applesauce, salt, spices and sida dissolved in hot water. Add flour, 1 cup at a time. Lastly fold in nuts, raisins and gumdrops. Grease and flour 4 loaf pans. Bake at 250 for 2 hours.
